Giving Godly Advice
Do people ask you for advice or are they asking you to ask God for advice? When you give advice are you giving biblical advice, or Godly or is it what you would do. Don’t get me wrong God gave us the Bible. A lot of time we give advice based on how we would handle it, but are the advice types the same or is there a difference.
God know what everyone one of us need help and a lot of time we need different things. Or are bond by special circumstances that we need to take into account. So the first thing to ask yourself is what advice are they asking for. After determining that they want Godly advice, encouraging them to read the Bible themselves is good. So along with that tell them that you’ll pray about what to advise.
God knows what is going on in their lives don’t worry about getting details unless the person want to tell you. They might want someone to sit and listen to them that might help them more than any advice you can give right then. Some times the best thing for us to do is give someone time just sit with them we don ‘t need to say anything.
The majority of the time when someone asks for advice, this is the advice that they receive. Which is fine but is it the best advice we can give? In my opinion the best advice is to encourage them to turn to God for their answers. Now sometime we may be their answer if you have been trough something similar. Always encourage them to go to God first then share you experience and how God saw you through it.
If you try to give advice like this, only give advice to them if you have had a similar experience. If not don’t give any just sit and listen, or give the best biblical advice you can. If you cannot give biblical advice my advice to you is to not give any just encourage them to seek Gods advice.
Most the time when people ask for Godly advice they expect to hear biblical advice. Which is one part of Godly advice. Biblical advice is great for giving advice due to detail of the passages give us something to compare our situations too, but unless someone gives the scripture and the Holy Spirit is there to guide them, the Bible is just word on a page to them.
A lot of people expect to hear this advice when asking for godly advice. Which the Bible does play a enormous role in giving us examples to live by. But both giving and receiving biblical advice depends on the Holy Spirit’s presences and how well we have studied the scriptures.
Giving Godly advice is always the best advice to give, it is rarely given due to we don’t take the time necessary to seek it. The main difference between biblical advice and Godly advice is the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Yes the anointing makes that much of a difference. Due to the fact they are guided by the Holy Spirit and given what to say what scriptures to use. How to advise that specific person in what they need to do in their situation.
Why is godly advice so hard to give? The answer, I believe, is us, we stand in its way, which is not something we should want to do as Christians. How you might ask? The answer is simple, we are. In order to enter in to an anointing the main thing that has to happen is Jesus must increase and we must decrease. We ourselves get in the way of our anointing and by doing so we can’t give godly advice.
It not enough to just study the Bible but to study the Bible in the anointing. Other wise we are just using our own understanding to study the Bible, which the Bible tells us not to do that.
So next time someone asks for advice point them to Jesus then stay with them till they find the answer guide them to Jesus. After they get their answer give them the gospel.
