Doctrine of Truth

Not a Denomination

The point in denominations are to separate ourselves according how we understand the bible. I think that doctrine is important, but it is not supposed to the main focus of the congregation. Doctrine is a matter to be dealt with after some one has heard the gospel, it is supposed to be learned by individual.

Learned in a personal or group study. Seeking after the truth and after God’s will, leaning not on our own understanding. By the understanding that God gives us what we need to seek after his understanding. Being teachable, as well as being able to teach. Seeking after the truth, asking yourself Is this what God said is this how or what he meant then, ask him, to confirm or change your beliefs based on his response.

Making sure His response is from Him, confirming it through the Holy Ghost and through scripture. Instead of basing a church off a certain doctrine. Seek after the doctrine of truth which in my opinion is the only doctrine. It is a waste to commit to one doctrine over another. Abandoning the truth for a present ideology. Not seeking after truth but accepting another’s study not knowing if God’s will was in the foundation of the doctrine.

I am not saying indoctrinated churches are bad but the church needs to be searching for the truth, not sticking to something they did not study for themselves. The reason non denominational church are so popular now a days is because they don’t waste time attacking the doctrine of another church.

Instead of trying to study to show themselves approved, people, and this is for the churches that do this, try to convince people that their doctrine is the right one because all denominations believe that. This creates a rift in communities, and in our families.

Seek after self improvement and understanding in God’s word, not just teaching and speaking, but following your doctrine with your life.

God’s word

God gave us the bible so that we could get to know our Lord and Savior, as well as the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us. So study the bible for yourself, get to know God through Jesus Christ. Lean on the Holy Spirit for understanding. Don’t just take things at face value or accept something based on someone else study.

Seeking the Truth

The bible encourage us to seek the truth. It tells us we will find the thing we seek. When we come to a door in out lives knock and it will be open to us. Don’t go around opening random doors, follow the door that leads to the truth.

Lean not on your own understanding

One of the reasons God gave us the Holy Spirit to lead us and guide us. We are not supposed to just read the bible. But study it not using our own understanding but thinking about what God meant when he put that in the bible.

Not relying on our own perception and our perceived truth but seeking the actual truth. Relying on the Holy Spirit to guide our understanding. Praying before we study for God to let us see through his eyes.

The Truth

The Truth is that Christians were called to spread the gospel. To seek after a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are not to stop seeking the truth, but to look for and study for ourselves not relying on what churches to feed us. But to feed ourselves with the bread of life which is Jesus Christ.

Not just reading to be reading, but putting effort into our studies. To declare ourselves seeker of the truth. To be indoctrinated by the truth, to be edified by the truth. So will you join me in this doctrine of truth?

I know the feeling. I felt doctrine was killing the church. I started studying Scripture at face value. But I kept seeing all these doctrines pop up, and wondering why others didn’t see them. It occured to me that they simply had never been taught.

Now I believe strongly in doctrine. It protects us from COMMON errors.
For example:
The doctrine of the Trinity protects me from those who say Jesus is not God. If I wait to figure it out for myself, I might be in error a long time and maybe lead others there.
The doctrine of Eternal Security protects me from those who say Jesus did enough to save me, but it is up to me to KEEP saved. Most Christians never figure this one out.
I could go on and on.

Doctrine is organized teaching. It is used by BOTH good and bad teachers. Jesus took different parts of Scripture and explained how they worked TOGETHER. He showed how the religious leaders were wrong. The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus explaining several doctrines that had been mistaught. It actually ends with:
Matthew 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

Each of your articles is a doctrine, a teaching on a topic.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Scripture can be rightly taught, and wrongly taught. Doctrine gives us guidelines based on other passages we may not be looking at.

2 Timothy 3
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

I used to think doctrine was boring. Now I just feel sorry for those who don’t have it. It’s like being overweight, and not knowing anything about dieting. You wind up with a heart attack.
